Please note Sky: Children of the Light is rated 9+. Major Game Spoilers Ahead! Players of Sky will know that there are new daily tasks to accomplish each day. These tasks cycle through all the realms (levels) in Sky, one by one (except for the first realm which is more of a tutorial for the game anyways). Each week, there's also a new chance to go through the final section of the game to collect special items. This area is known as Eden, and it is the most dangerous area of the game. Everything that can possibly make you loose the lights that give you power resides in Eden. Players of Sky who are like me always dread one daily task that rolls around at least once a week: "Face the Dark Dragon". It means letting these creatures catch you in their sights and risking losing 2-6 of the lights you have spent so much time trying to find. I generally time my weekly visit to Eden for when this task comes up. If I'm going to have to face the Dark Dragon in Eden, might as well "kill two birds with one stone", so to speak. Getting through Eden involves dying, literally. Your character fills all these statues with Winged Lights until you are all out of power. Then you slowly fade away into darkness. There is a resurrection sequence where you learn that all those statues you willed with light are now free to ascend and move on. Just as Jesus' death freed all of us from our sins, so your sacrifice in Sky frees the Children of the Light.
Because there are only 5 realms that get cycled through for the daily tasks in Sky, occasionally the Golden Wasteland, the realm that gives you the "Face the Dark Dragon" task, rolls through twice in one week. By an amazing occurrence, this task, the traditionally "Let's go to Eden" task, has come through twice this week: once on The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday and the other on today, Good Friday. These are both days when the story of the Passion, i.e. Jesus' death, is read allowed in church. These are the days when we recall the sacrifice Jesus made for us more fully. It is nice the have this reminder in Sky of the event that is so core to our Faith, particularly during this week and on these two days. While in Sky, we won't have to wait for our resurrection, it does help remind us what the death of Jesus is really pointing us towards: the hope we have in Easter.
