Please note, Black Panther (vol. 6) is rated T. Previously, We saw Shuri learning the Old Ways as she wavers between life and death. Now, her brother T'Challa has found a way to bring Shuri back fully from the Djalia, the realm of memory, to life in the physical world. Shuri has learned so much in her time in Djalia. It seems a shame to have to go back to the so-called "real world". Yet she does so in order to help Wakanda come to know the truth, and she is hardly the first to have to do this. In the times of Prophets, Elijah obtains a great victory in the Kingdom of Israel when he proved in a contest that God was the True God over the prophets of the false deity Baal. Because of this victory, the Queen Jezebel in 1 Kings 19 tells Elijah she is coming for him to kill him. Elijah then hides in the wilderness where he eventually encounters God on Mt. Horeb. God could have let Elijah stay and not go back. Instead, God tells Elijah to go and train Elisha to be a new prophet, one who will have double the spirit of his teacher. This is often what God asks of us- to not simply remain in God's presence all our lives but to go and teach others the Truth. The mission Jesus sends the Disciples on is a practical one of teaching, as we see in Luke. Jesus' final words to the Disciples are to send them out to baptize and teach, as we see at the end of Matthew. It can be tempting to want to stay in the presence of God to absorb more knowledge, similar to Shuri in the Djalia. However, that is not what we see God calling us to do. Along the way, we have seen God send forth those with knowledge to help those without it, as with Elijah and Jesus' Disciples. We are called to take people down the path we have trod. We are called to help people take the better way, as Shuri will try to do with Wakanda.
